Bruno Mars hearts Miami, and the feeling is apparently mutual. Due to popular demand, the “Uptown Funk” singer double-dipped over the weekend on his sold out Romantic Tour at Hard Rock Stadium.
The tour, which started in April and runs through May 2027, is Mars’ first full global stadium run in nearly a decade, supporting his new album of the same name. Mars was originally set to do just one concert on Saturday night. When promoter Live Nation couldn’t keep up with the droves of ticketbuyers, a second show on Sunday was added.
How does a pop superstar prep for such a blowout? By giving fans a sneak peek of his setlist (and more) Thursday night at E11EVEN Miami. We were told Mars’ intimate concert experience at the downtown ultraclub was one for the ages, just not for Internet consumption. According to the original invitation, photos and video recording were not permitted, a move intended to keep everyone engaged.
We hear that people were surprisingly totally cool with that, and waited patiently to stash their prized tech devices in sealed Yondr pouches until Mars arrived at around 2 a.m.
After a late dinner at Giselle on E11EVEN’s rooftop, the 40-year-old Grammy winner went downstairs and entered via the back door with an entourage of about 12. First stop: The DJ booth, where Mars took over the decks, spinning for the lucky patrons who had their hands free to dance and clap.
“Where the freak s--t tonight?” he screamed, as per insiders, who did upload a few shots of the surreal scene on Instagram.The native Hawaiian obviously wasn’t too concerned about straining his vocal cords. He also belted out a mix of such hits as “Please Me,” “Locked Out of Heaven” and “Wake Up in the Sky” as chanting guests clamored around the booth, trying to get a closer look at the pop idol IRL, not through a camera lens.
Mars’ Romantic Tour opening act Anderson Paak, aka DJ Peewee, was also on site at the phone-less shindig. The two men fed traded the mic back and forth, tearing through popular club covers like LMFAO’s “I’m in Miami B-tch” and Rick Ross’ “Everyday I’m Hustlin.”
At one point during the wild rave, Paak began pouring Don Julio 1942 tequila directly into nearby fans’ mouths. “We’re going to be partying all night!” the California rapper shouted. “Miami, I love you!”
It’s unclear when the shindig ended but safe to say there were a few sleepy members of the workforce entering the rat race once the sun came up.
